There was a play called "Gustavus Vasa. the Deliverer of his Country." which was performed in the cities of colonial America. and was well received by George Washington and his contemporaries. The Swedish people have not failed to see and appreciate the resemblance between their first revolutionary national leader and ours. We should see it also and express our gratitude to the Swedes for their example. The United States and Sweden have enjoyed many decades of unbroken friendship. Three million Americans trace their families back to Sweden. Many Swedish immigrants were received with open arms and America has never regretted it. All aspects of American culture reflect Swedish influnece. Robert Frost.
