For some time before his death. Dr. Szilard suffered from an incurable form of cancer. Despite his increasing disability. he never ceased in his efforts to bring about world peace. He traveled extensively to Russia. to the Continent. and came to many meetings in the United States. I should say that shortly before he made his great contribution to the development of the bomb. he had been received in our country as a refugee from totalitarianism. I am sure many Senators will join me in expressing publicly their deep sense of loss and deep sense of sympathy for his surviving widow. Mr.
