Washington. D.C. DEAR REPRESENTATIVE QuxE: I would like to express with you my deep and sincere condolences in the death of Gen. Douglas MacArthur. I came as a Czech refugee from communism in 1948 to Austria and Germany and did not see too many hopes for freedom at that time. In 1951 and 1952 I read General MacArthurs speeches in U.S. newspapers and texts which I received from General Whitney and a new world opened to me. I firmly hoped that MacArthur would be nominated in 1952 for President and predicted he would be the keynoter at the Republican Convention.
