I have watched with great pride the growth and achievements of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The association has seen many difficult years. two World Wars. the depression. a lack of Immigration during the war years. the war of independence In Ireland and a civil war that followed. This year. the New York Gaelic Athletic Association celebrates the completion of 50 years of outstanding and inspiring work in promoting the national games of Irelandchiefly hurling and Gaelic football.
