Speech #880207916

We once hoped that he might inherit the wisdom of his grandfather Abdullah. who wanted an ArabIsrael peace. Altogether. since 1957. we have given King Hussein $461 million. in aid. mostly grants. including about $30 million in military aid. We have paid more than $150 million to provide for Arab refugees in Jordan. yet in Moscow on April 11. King Husseins Ambassador reportedly declared in an interview: I will say frankly that today we believe that the U.S.S.R. can help us more than any other country. Now King Hussein appears as the spokesman of an Arab alliance determined not to compromise. but to obstruct. not to help others but to promote suffering. not to create. but to destroy.
