As a member of NATO. the Greek armed services are recognized as an efficient fighting force. capable of defending their homeland and the territories of their comembers. We in the United States are indebted to the Greeks for many thingsfor governmental principles. art. science. and plays. But most of all. through the Greek immigrant who came to our shores to find a new life. we have discovered and adopted his customs and incorporated them as contributions to the American way of life. Therefore. I am proud to add my congratulations to the Greek people as they celebrate this patriotic national holiday and wish them continuous success and prosperity for the future.
