Session #88 · 1963–65

Speech #880163670

Mr. Chairman. now that we are in the final period of consideration of this bill. I would like to speak once more in opposition to this bill. Our country has long been a haven of liberty. The quest of personal liberty was a primary motive -of those who emigrated to our shores and of those who established our Government. The bill before us not only violates our Constitution but it strikes a serious blow against the treasured ideal of liberty. If this bill becomes law. people will lose their freedom to choose their associates and their employees. In our country we allow people to belong to the Communist Party. -which seeks to overthrow our Government.
