Session #88 · 1963–65

Speech #880125874

I love this country more than I can ever tell you because it gave me opportunity. because I no longer have to carry wood on my back. wood Ive hunted and scratched for because it was so scarce. water on my shoulder in jugs Ive filled from a spring after waiting in line because it was scarce. I love this country because I no longer have to eat stale bread I was glad to get. go barefooted. sleep on the floor. All these things I did before I came to America. God bless America. God give us the energy. the courage and the determination to do our part to keep it free. strong. and peaceful. If any native born or naturalized citizen does not like this country let him buy a oneway ticket to the country of his choice. The sooner he leaves the better. Ladies and gentlemen.
