If the present Government of the Dominican Republic enjoys stability and popular support. if it will proceed toward the goals of freedom and economic progress. it deserves speedy recognition and sympathetic support from the United States. To deal effectively with the general problem of promoting stability in Latin American countries. the administration must begin to act resolutely to curb Cuban based subversion. It is nonsense to think that Castro has been isolated when his followers create turmoil in Venezuela and Cuban vessels invade British islands to kidnap refugees. Within the next few days this committee will release a report offering recommendations to accomplish this result.
