Speaker. Captive Nations Week which is being observed this week reminds us to give renewed devotion to the just aspirations of all people for national independence and human liberty. The people of the 24th Congressional District. where many refugees from Communist tyranny reside. join in this national observance to spotlight the plight of the millions of persons in Sovietdominated countries who have lost their freedom. This is the fifth time that our country has demonstrated Its concern for the people living under Communist domination by the proclamation of Captive Nations Week. The observance of such a week was authorized by an act of Congress of 1959 to be held annually until freedom and independence has been achieved for all the captive nations of the world.
