It has resulted in a sharp decline in housing construction In 1959. housing construction in Dade County reached a high of 11.800 units. In 1962. It dropped to 5.000 units. I am advised that there has also been a sharp Increase in the number of mortgage foreclosures. These are just some of the serious economic conditions brought about by the large influx of Cuban refugees in this area. I think. by and large. the citizens of Dade County are to be congratulated for the manner in which they have coped with the situation. Their facilities are taxed to the limit.
