Captain Ronnes distinguished career encompasses six journeys to the Antarctic. four of at least 15 months duration. including one he personally organized and led in 194648. as well as four summers to the arctic regions. Norwegian born and the son of Martin Ronne. who was with Roald Amundsen for 20 years. Finn Ronnes enviable record of geographical exploration of the Antarctic was accomplished as an American citizen. Trained as an engineer. he emigrated to the United States in 1923 and joined the engineering staff of Westinghouse Electric Corp.. at Pittsburgh. Pa. He became a citizen in 1929.
