On June 7. 1961. I spoke to the House of Representatives again urging imposition of an embargo which should include any shipment of tractors directly to the Cuban Government. On July 19. 1961. 1 sent a letter to General Swing. Commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service. asking for a strengthening and tightening up of screening and security measures admitting Cuban refugees to this country. On August 2. 1961. I introduced a bill. referred to the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce. to prohibit the shipment in interstate or foreign commerce of articles Imported into the United States from Cuba.
