I would like at this time to say a few words in behalf of Mrs. Marion Miller. of Los Angeles. whose service to her country entitles her to the respect and admiration of freedomloving people everywhere. In October 1950. at the height of the Korean warin a period when American fighting men were facing death before a hoard of Communist bayonets and tanksCommunist agents in California launched a recruiting drive under the auspices of a front group known as the Los Angeles Committee for Protection of Foreign Born. In fact. the organizers of the committee were in no way at all concerned with their official objective. but. on the contrary. wanted merely to enlist the aid of foreignborn Americans in opposing American policies looking to the frustration of Communist aims. Their 1950 recruiting drive was. of course. designed for the purpose of siphoning strength away from the American forces in Korea. by reducing popular support for the war at home.
