President. On May 29. 1962. the Senate passed S. 1849. to grant the status of permanent residence in the United States to the beneficiary as of the date of his first admission to the United States. In this connection. it was stated that the beneficiary. who is a research specialist employed by Boeing Airplane Co.. could use his talents and training to better advantage if he had sufficient residence to enable him to petition for naturalization. On August 7. 1962. the House of Representatives passed S. 1849. with an amendment to grant permanent residence as of the date of the enactment of the act. The amendment is acceptable.
