It seems to me it is one of the most crucial areas of the Latin American region. and we ought to be exceedingly careful in what we do about it. Sugar is an important commodity to the Dominican Republic and we should be generous in our purchases in order to help strengthen the economy. I wish to ask my colleague another question. Is it not a fact that many of the countries which during the past few years have lived under the socalled quota systemunder the socalled historic quota in particular. and some under recent allocationshave given their workers substantial increases in terms of social benefits and wages?
