I am happy to note that the sturdiness of the Norwegian people is revealed to this day. in an article from the News of Norway. Marianne Vik. a 4yearold girl of Brannfjell. near Oslo. skied altogether 155 miles on 23 trips this past winter to earn the skiing badge. As a group the NorwegianAmericans came of age. intellectually. as the Nation began to turn to the scientists and the technically trained for leadership. when America began to call experts into the laboratories not only of educational institutions. but hospitals. industrial plants. and Government agencies. It is in these areas that the immigrant stock has had its greatest opportunities and made a larger share of its contributions.
