At Hitlers accession to power. in 1933. she was one of the first to perceive the full meaning of the Nazi triumph in Germany. in its relation to the German Jews. and to form a practical plan for the removal of as many young people as possible from the area of danger. Under the wing of Hadassah. she organized Youth Aliyah for the transportation. settlement. and training of young immigrants into Palestine. By 1960. this organization had welcomed into the Jewish homeland more than 100.000 homeless young people and helped them to become educated. selfsupporting. confident and hopeful citizens of the new nation of Israel.
