Following World War II. in 1947. the courageous nation was again overwhelmed by outside forces. as the Reds moved in and forced President Tildy out of office. With the revered memory of their forefathers of 108 years before as their inspiration. the Hungarian people again revolted against oppression. But again they were crushed by the Russian hordes. even as they had been in the previous century. Again the refugees from this conflict fled their country rather than be killed or forced to live in enslavement. And. once more. thousands found refuge in the United States of America. On this 114th anniversary of their epic struggle for liberty and freedom.
