Pledging himself and what wealth he had left. leaving behind any political ambitions he may have had. and. perhaps most difficult of all. giving up the life of ease and luxury to which he had been born. Musa bey began his search for water. Using improvised machinery and methods. he and his servants. assisted by other refugees. began drilling In August 1949. With each setback. the scoffers were emboldened to make louder their derision and opposition. He was denounced publicly and. more effectively. privately to the King.
