RIOUX The Senate proceeded to consider the bill for the relief of Dr. Berchmans Rioux which had been reported from the Committee on the Judiciary. with an amendment to strike out all after the enacting clause and insert: That. for the purposes of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Doctor Berchmans Rloux shall be held and considered to have been lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence as of July 14. 1949. and the time he has resided and been physically present in the United States since that date shall be held and considered to meet the residence and physical presence requirements of section 316 of the said Act.
