Mr. President. the alien orphan legislation expired on June 30. If the conference report is not adopted. we shall lose the program. The law enforcement agencies of the Government of the United States have requested the enactment of provisions relating to the judicial review of deportation orders. They state it is urgently needed to assist them in effecting the deportation of racketeers and other undesirable persons. As I understand it. this feature would be used probably seven or eight times a year in the case of big racketeers and subversives. The legislation will also permit the reunification of separated families.
