Session #87 · 1961–63

Speech #870132718

The Russians know where we stand now. and repercussions are coming from East Germany. Communist newspapers disclose a fear of war by the East Germans and they are blaming the Soviet Union for the situation. The flow of refugees to West Berlin give proof of the unrest caused in East Germany by Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchevs threat to sign a peace treaty that will end Western rights in Berlin. If the people of East Germany continue to show disapproval to this possibility of bloodshed of Germans. the blackmail attempt of the Communists would have failed. Now the Russians have introduced another form of strategy.
