The next morning breakfast was served at the camp grounds and then preparations for the parade got underway. Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane were the historical characters represented from Herington. Barbecued chicken was the specialty for lunch when we arrived in Marion. General Francis Marion. the "Swamp Fox" was the entry from Marion. for whom the town was named. An immigrant grain wagon 6ommemorating a Mennonite settlement was the entry from Hillsboro. After the parade we toured the sod house which is a memorial to the Mennonite colonization of the area. The townspeople had prepared a delicious DutchGerman supper for us.
