For this great interest on the part of the leader of our Nation we are all deeply grateful. Mr. Speaker. during the Easter recess I was asked to serve as a member of a subcommittee of the Judiciary Committee to go to the Far East to study the problem arising by reason of the Chinese refugee situation in Hong Kong. Collateral to our assignment was the admonition that we should investigate with our immigration officials in Japan and Hong Kong questions which arise in connection with the consideration of an omnibus immigration bill by the Judiciary Committee. Our distinguished colleague the gentleman from West Virginia [Mr. MooRE] and I constituted the special subcommittee.
