Before I close. I want to call attention to one thing that the last administration did which really burned me up when I found out about it. Last year I was in the Middle East and I visited some of the refugee camps where we are taking care of 1.2 million refugees in Lebanon and Syria. on the Ghaza Strip and in Jordan. and I was amazed to find out that the United States was paying 70 percent of the cost of that program operated by UNWRA under the United Nations program. We are paying 70 percent. The United Kingdom is paying 18 percent of the cost. and the other members of the United Nations. exclusive of the Soviet bloc which is not paying any part of the cost. pay 12 percent of the cost. and yet they were using a part of that 70 percent that we were furnishing to buy wheat.
