The New York Times (July 18. 1949. p. 13) reported that "the 20 resolutions adopted unanimously by the 2day conference registered opposition to the conspiracy trial of the 11 Communist leaders. the presidential loyalty order * * * deportation for political belief * * * among others. The conference also called for an end to investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation into political. rather than criminal. activities."
