Of course. my area is not the only one which will benefit. for there are many others throughout the Nation in similar circumstances. and in need of this legislation. Ultimately. the entire Nation will benefit. for when rehabilitated these areas will be able to contribute their share to the continuance of prosperity in our Nation. As I pointed out on a previous occasion. a number of basic factors account for the situation in Michigan. Because of a high birth rate and immigration. Michigans population has been growing at a rate much faster than the national average. and as a result a greater number of workers are constantly entering the labor market. Automation and increased efficiency have increased production. but have reduced the number of jobs available.
