Session #86 · 1959–61

Speech #860185619

Mr. Speaker. we do have an area in which our continued interest is necessary in relation to our friendly contacts with Greece and its people. Greece. as much as any other country. suffers from the inequities in the immigration and refugee laws. and President Eisenhower should be commended for his earnest plea to produce a practical revision of immigration quotas. When Congress tackles this situation. the Greek quota will be one that fairness dictates should be greatly revised. I am heartened by the great number of Members who recall this Greek Independence Day. which remembrance symbolizes the appreciation of the American people to a loyal partner in the lineup of free nations.
