It had long been his desire to live to become chairman of that great committee. and to thus follow in the footsteps of anOther great Ohioan. once chairman of the Ways and Means CommitteeWilliam McKinley. In his early career in Congress. Mr. Jenkins served as a member of the Immigration and Naturalization Committee and was the author of several legislative measures of importance in connection with our national welfare. He was also a member of the Insular Affairs Committee and for a short time a member of the District of Columbia Committee. He was named chairman of the Food Study Committee. and during the time he servedfrom 1944 to 1946did splendid work.
