I wish to comment very briefly on the action of the Senate in concurring in the amendment of the House to the amendment of the Senate to House bill 6118. a bill to amend section 6 of the act of September 11. 1957. The action had to do with amending the provisions of sections 4 and 6 of Public Law 85316. Mr. President. this bill would extend two important provisions of the immigration law which were allowed to expire on June 30. First. the provisions of section 4 of Public Law 85316. under which special nonquota immigrant visas are granted to adopted alien orphans under 14 years of age. and. second. the provisions of section 6 of Public Law 85316. under which alien relatives of American citizens afflicted with TB may be admitted to the United States under suitable safeguards.
