Mr. President. I introduce and ask for appropriate reference of a bill to amend subsection B of section 349 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. I should like to briefly explain this amendment. There are a large number of Americans. born in this country of immigrant parents. who as children were taken back to the country of their parents during the difficult years of the great depression. This is particularly true of Portuguese Americans. who brought this problem to my attention. Connecticut is fortunate to number among its citizens a large number of Portuguese Americans and I have a deep interest in their problems.
