Mr. President. last year I sponsored legislation to provide equal naturalization privileges for veterans who served honorably in the Armed Forces of the United States during the Korean war. Section 329 of the Immigration and Nationality Act provides that veterans who served honorably in the Armed Forces during the First and Second World Wars are entitled to naturalization. but no provisions were made for Korean war veterans. This worthy legislation. I am- pleased to report. passed the Senate on August 18. but. unfortunately. was not considered by the House of Representatives in the closing days of the session. It is indeed a pleasure to report that both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars have endorsed my proposal to grant equal naturalization privileges to veterans of the Korean war.
