I was a resident there for 5 years at one time. I know the various activities. and the social issues in that State. which the people of many small States only read about in the newspapers. They never have such problems in their own States. In New York there is a variety of races and nationalities. In times past. there were a large number of unassimilated immigrants who had come from Europe and other places in the world bringing with them a great variety of ideologies. An entirely different situation. of course. exists west of the Hudson. in the "hinterland."
