Speech #850280071

Mr. President. on May 21. 1958. the Senate passed S. 1542. to grant the status of permanent residence in the United States to the 25yearold son of lawful permanent residents of the United States. On August 13. the House of Representatives passed S. 1542. with an amendment to preserve the beneficiarys status as a third preference quota immigrant. to which he would normally be entitled were it not for the fact that he is over 21 years of age inasmuch as information was received that the beneficiary had departed from the iUnited States. I move that the Senate concur in the House amendment to S. 1542. This has the approval of the minority leader.
