Session #85 · 1957–59

Speech #850239220

D. C.. at a commemoration of Baltic Day: This commemoration reminds us of the darkest hours in the history of the Baltic States. It reminds us of the time when the light of freedom was extinguished in the Baltics. when the Iron Curtain descended upon that part of the world. and forcible mass deportations and genocidal practices were initiated against the Baltic people. The June events of 1940 and 1941 in the Baltics will go down in history as horrible crimes committed by imperialistic communism against the peaceful and freedomloving Baltic people. In June 1940. the Kremlin. with Hitlers -blessing. trampled on peaceful coexistence with the Baltic peoples.
