Speech #850218790

However. we feel that the fight against communism is not conducted in any single geographic locality but is a worldwide struggle. In this respect we should not forget that among our earliest fighters against communism were the thousands of Chinese persons. who gave up their homes and possessions. left loved ones in the mainland of China and fled to Hong Kong and surrounding areas. rather than to serve under Communist masters. These thousands of refugees In Hong Kong and Macao are in terrible distress and are in dire need of aid and assistance and most of all a place where they can make a home. earn a livelihood and continue their fight against communism. We urge therefore that. special legislation be passed to provide special immigration privileges for these refugees. 3. Next. we urge that United States contindie its morally sound and righteous position in opposing the admission of Red China to the United Nations. A government such as Communist China. which is totally bereft of decency and regard for the individual anU Irresponsible to its obligations as a nation. is not entitled to a place in a respectable community of nations.
