Session #85 · 1957–59

Speech #850215855

For one thing. we can express our sympathy and interest with Armenian aspirations. There are many Americans of Armenian ancestry or birth who detest the enslavement of the land of their forefathers and are strongly antiCommunist. they would like our Government to indicate its interest in the reestablishment of an independent. democratic Armenian Republic. For another. a simple and surely not fatal change in our domestic laws would provide for the Armenians still in their homeland a separate quota for immigration purposes. To deny them a separate quota. and incorporate their allowable migration pricipally In a quota designed for Turkey. Is of little value to Turkey and is a deprivation for Armenians.
