The third general classification of fallacious arguments advanced by the opponents of this legislation. is that of political immaturitynonreadiness. or whatever synonyms one wishes to give to it. This is probably the most absurd argument of all. The citizens of Alaska are for a large part emigrants from 1 or the other of the 48 States or children of such immigrants. They were embued with the pioneer spirit of old and went to Alaska to overcome obstacle after obstacle in order to settle the land and build a decent life for themselves and their families. They took with them the community lawabiding spirit which they had themselves assisted in establishing. in perpetuating. and which they had practiced in their everyday living in their home communities in the States.
