Mr. President. many. many thousands of Hungarians have come to the Western Hemisphere as refugees and found new homes and a new life. A few. who perhaps would not be happy anywhere. have returned to Europe with a complete lack of appreciation for the mercy shown to them in a crucial hour. Some of these have been critical of the countries which embraced them. including the United States. Last month a critical appraisal by one Hungarian refugee was given the usual publicity and notoriety which any critical statement about the Dominican Republic seems to receive. In fairness to that country. I ask unanimous consent to have printed in the RECORD one letter and two petitions signed by Hungarian refugees now living in the Dominican Republic which affords a more accurate picture of working conditions and resettlements there.
