Later that evening I visit Habanas two newest luxury hotels. the Capri and the HabanaRiviera. Their exteriors are indistinguishable from the luxury hotels of Miami Beach. Their interiors are indistinguishable from the gambling casinos of Las Vegas. Their gaming tables are filled with what look like toughguy refugees from an old George Raft movie. This Is especially true at the Capri. where wandering around the gaming tables is partowner George Raft himself. The partnership of the American underworld with the government of President Fulgencio Batista is well established.
