The Private Calendar is called in similar fashion on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. at which times the House may take up those measures known as private bills. These are bills introduced by the Members for the relief of citizens who may have claims against the United States. say for Injuries Incurred on Government property or for damages inflicted while transacting business for or with the Government. A great many private bills are introduced for the special purpose of waiving our immigration laws to admit desirable aliens to this country who might otherwise be forced by quota limitations to wait years before gaining entry to our shores.
