Session #85 · 1957–59

Speech #850165764

We in America like to think the Finns who left their home country to come to the United States found here their Kalewala. a land of happiness and abundance. In observing Kalewala day. we can reflect with pride on the contributions our great Nation has received from the sturdy. independent people of Finland. I am pleased that so many Finns were attracted to the State of Minnesota. We must encourage more to come to the United States by enlarging the immigration quota for Finland. The quota is now much too small. All over the world there was mourning last year at the death of the great Finnish composer.
