Session #85 · 1957–59

Speech #850140330

Mr. President. on August 5. 1957. the Senate passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 40. to record Congressional approval of suspension of deportation in certain cases in which the Attorney General had suspended deportation for more than 6 months. Subsequent to this action. the Immigration and Naturalization Service requested that one case included in the concurrent resolution be deleted and returned to the jurisdiction of that service. On August 22. 1957. the House of Representatives passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 40. with an amendment to delete the one case. The amendment is acceptable and I move that the Senate concur in the House amendment to Senate Concurrent Resolution 40.
