Mr. Speaker. in February 1687. a group of German immigrants met at the Joseph Frischkorn Hotel in Altoona. Pa.. where it was agreed to organize what is now known as the Bavarian Aid Society. The group consisted of Messrs. George Lunglhofer. John Widbman. Pantaleon Frischkorn. George Vogel. Joseph Zollner. Theodore Ziegler. Joseph Frischkorn. John Loeb. John Knott. and Phillipp Kummel. After the election of officers. regular meetings were held monthly and in the year of 1913 it was decided to rent a new headquarters to meet the needs of the expanding organization in both membership as well as activities. In 1922 the present home of the Bavarian Aid Society was constructed at a cost of nearly $20.000 to house its 380 active and 220 social members.
