This is a problem of nationwide interest. I think there is considerable to be said as to the responsibility of the Federal Government for providing such a stockpile and making arrangements for the allocation of these antibiotics as the need arises. A "flu" epidemic seems rather remote to us here in Washington. but such an epidemic has raised havoc in many European and Asiatic countries. The germ moves fast. and strikes within a very short period of time. This is a problem which the Federal Government should recognize in the interest of the health of the people of this country.
