Session #85 · 1957–59

Speech #850098332

There are white people. there are colored people. there are MexicanAmericans. and all kinds of people. I think it is wrong to presume that only one group is involved in the right to equal protection of the laws. Equal protection of the laws refers to a person in America who is a naturalized citizen or a person born in this country. It has no regard for race. creed. color. or religion. All we are talking about is utilizing the sovereign power and authority of the Government of the United States to protect the citizenship rights which are guaranteed to every citizen by the Constitution of the United States.
