The report from the Romanian Welfare. Inc.. is particularly Inspiring. Only in operation since August of 1955. this group distributed 898.000 pounds of agricultural commodities. reaching approximately 5.000 Greek refugees from Romania. These people wereand most still areliving under incredibly poor conditions. Romanian Welfare definitely feels that through the wide publicity it succeeded in giving to this operation. the United States not only made friends. but it is confident that it succeeded in preventing the spread of communism among the people helped. in a country which due to poverty. and the moral material devastation caused by the civil war. could easily become a hotbed for such doctrine.
