I would say that we all recognize that when the Founding Fathers established the Constitution and adopted the Bill of Rights they reserved to the States and to the people all rights not heretofore granted to the Federal Government. However. after that conflict that resulted in the adoption of the 13th. 14th. and 15th amendments there was *an inhibition placed upon the States. The 13th amendment was against slavery. the 14th was to the effect that nativeborn and naturalized citizens should be considered equally. and further thatNo State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States. nor shall any State deprive any person of life. liberty. or property. without due process of law. nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
