Eight thousand and five hundred dollars is for the purpose of microfilming the part of the Confederate service records known as the Consolidated Index of the States. That program will be carried on by the National Archives. and it involves putting together a great many Confederate soldiers service records. which now are located in various agencies scattered over the city of Washington.
